October 31 - November 1
Goblin Valley State Park, UT.

After checking in and unloading we went to the parking lot where all the tourists go, and we took a walk into the park.

We hiked deep into the goblins and climbed around the various formations in that part of the park.

How cool it was to have a blue moon, in Goblin Valley on Halloween!

This is where we spent the night.

The next morning Leslie and I took a hike up a trail on another side of the valley - that was so awesome; something we want to do more of in the future.

The landscape behind us is also spectacular.

Hiking on this side is amazing! Set a direction and go. The ground is soft, and the ground formations are spectacular.

Isn't this Cool?!

November 2
Woke up in Bullfrog Marina, then after hours of waiting and orientation, we piloted the boat to the mouth of Slick Rock Canyon where we anchored for two nights.

November 3
We took a speedboat journey to Escalante Canyon for a picnic lunch and to check out more of Lake Powell's beauty.

Arrived at Escalante and had a lunch picnic.

The winding canyon was beautiful.

Arriving back at the houseboat (see it there in the distance).

A calm view from our houseboat.

November 4
After taking a little walk exploring Slick Rock Canyon, we moved the houseboat to Hansen Canyon.

November 5
The next day we ventured down to Forgotten Canyon in search of the Defiance House Ruins

We drove the boat as far as we could go, and started walking near these very cool looking old trees.

The hike along the streambed offered spectacular views.

These old trees add a spiritual feeling to the scenery.

We found the defiance house ruins.

There was a kiva and a storage room.

Oops - someone is home.

Pretty cool structure from the inside.

This family had an amazing view of the canyon - a great lookout to spot approaching danger.

Pat and Leslie enjoying the scenery.

Marietta, Judy and Leslie returning to the boat.

We journeyed on the boat through more of the fingers of Moki Canyon, found some really cool water caves and other canyon features.

November 6
On our last day Leslie went paddle boarding, I took a hike along the canyon, others hiked and some chilled at the boat enjoying the scenery and the company.

Leslie Paddle Boarding

I had to go inland to avoid large crevasses along the lake - the interior landscape provided a colorful tapestry.
